Portrait of RAY CHARLES

This is simply an example of "Graphic Art" as a collage portrait of one of my favorite heroes, the one and only Mr. Ray Charles, whose hand I touched once.  This portrait won two cash awards for me as a senior in High School.

  MURAL Project for:   Simon Waronker
the founder of Liberty Records (and also the "Simon" from the 3 Chipmunks, Alvin, Simon, and Theodore)

This graphic (sketch) I created in Macromedia Freehand to illustrate a mural during the planning stage:  the 'Banana Leaves Mural'  - all in taupe shades - for Simon's hallway.  I worked with his interior designer, Gaye Blair on this project, whose design ideas are fabulous.  Photos of the finished mural are below, and also in the 'Murals/Ceilings, Borders...' pages  of the site.

My Mother's 'Visiting Card':

My mother is Russian, born aboard ship in the Black Sea.  As kids we grew up with "Babushka" (her mother), and were filled with many Russian customs and traditions.  She was brought up learning Ballet of course, and before coming to New York she remembers as an infant the music of Turkey, where they stopped briefly when she was born.  So she invented a Turkish Ballet.  She also belongs to the Garden Club in Cambria, and grows many Amaryllis, as shown in this card.

Grape Leaves Border For Kitchen Doorway

These are presentation sketches for a client, also done in Macromedia Freehand.  The actual job got indefinitely postponed.   Variations are always to be expected, of course. This design can be used anywhere, and the 19th Century scrollwork can be made as trompe l'oeil moldings within the wall itself.

The client's wall color is somewhere in this range:
